UAE : Check your Dubai Residence Visa Status Online

Check your UAE Residence Visa Status online for DUBAI Residents.


On the previous post, we have introduced how to check residence visa status online (using your passport details) if you are living/ working outside Dubai. Click HERE. 


To check your Dubai / UAE residence visa status online, you will need your visa file number: 


Visa File Number - You can find this on the residence visa page attached to your passport.

Basic Steps:

  1. Access the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) online portal. You can access the portal by clicking the link >> AMER.GDRFA Residence Visa Check 
  2. Select “Residence” under File Type. 
  3. Enter your Visa File Number. Enter all numbers in the visa file number.
  4. Enter your First Name.
  5. Select your Nationality from the drop down.
  6. Enter your Date of Birth. 
  7. Answer the “reCAPTCHA”.
  8. Hit on Submit. 


The page will show the status of your residence visa.


The page should look like the image below. 





On this residence visa status result, the residence visa has been closed or cancelled. The person should exit UAE or look for a new employer within 21 or 30 days starting on the date of visa expiry to avoid fines or penalties. Depending on UAE’s foreign manpower need, the grace period is extended up to 180 days.

Check your UAE Residence Visa online using your passport details.  Here are some of the reasons why you need to check your residence visa status online.  You have already started working through work entry permit and your employer has promised to process your residence visa. A work entry permit visa is only valid for 30 days which can be extended for another 30 days giving your employer a maximum 60 days to arrange a residence visa for you.  You have resigned or got terminated by your employer. When you have ended your service with your employer, you are given 21 or 30 days grace period to exit UAE or to look for a new employer to avoid overstay fines or penalties.
