Welders are people whose job revolves around fusing materials together. Individuals needed by companies to make construction projects happen. 


In 2019, the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects an employment growth of 3% for Welders in the next 10 years in the United States. A job which doesn’t require a degree but promises job security.


To become a welder, an individual should only complete and pass short-term vocational courses to receive certifications. 


An individual can get in touch with their country’s Training and Workforce Development department to check available courses in welding. There are also institutions that offer welding vocational courses. 


Welders are in demand, not only in construction of buildings or engineering projects but also in building and repairing ships. The training can be the same.

There are three most common types of welding. These three types are the following:

  1. Arc Welding
  2. MIG (Metal, Inert Gas) Welding or GMAW (Gas, Metal Arc) Welding
  3. TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Welding

How much is the average salary of a typical welder? 

In the United States, according to salary.com the average salary of a welder is $42,483 a year as of August 2021. That translates to around $20.00 per hour. An entry-level position may receive a starting salary of $37,874 and an experienced worker can receive as high as $48,814 in a year.


In Canada, according to ca.talent.com the average salary of a welder is $41,935 a year as of September 2021. That translates to around $21.50 per hour. An entry-level position may receive a starting salary of $36,591 and an experienced worker can receive as high as $55,575 in a year.


In the Middle East, according to payscale.com the average typical salary of a welder is SAR 36,365 in a year for Saudi Arabia as of September 2021. That translates to around SAR 18.00 per hour. However, an experienced worker may receive as high as SAR 124,000 in a year. 


In Singapore, according to salaryexplorer.com the average salary of a welder is SG$24,840 in a year as of September 2021. That translates to around SG$12.00 per hour. However, an experienced worker can receive as high as SG$39,600.
