UAE : Check Residence Visa Status Online (using your passport details)

Check your UAE Residence Visa online using your passport details. 


Here are some of the reasons why you need to check your residence visa status online. 

  1. You have already started working through work entry permit and your employer has promised to process your residence visa. A work entry permit visa is only valid for 30 days which can be extended for another 30 days giving your employer a maximum 60 days to arrange a residence visa for you. 
  2. You have resigned or got terminated by your employer. When you have ended your service with your employer, you are given 21 or 30 days grace period to exit UAE or to look for a new employer to avoid overstay fines or penalties. Depending on UAE’s foreign manpower need, the grace period is extended up to 180 days. The grace period starts on the day your residence visa is cancelled. 
  3. For some other reasons or purposes, it is a way to check that you have an active employment with a company real time.


To check your residence visa status online, you will need the following information from your passport:

  1. Passport Number
  2. Passport Expire Date - dd/mm/year


Note: This guide is applicable if you are living or working in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. A separate portal is used to check residence visa status for individuals living in Dubai


Basic Steps:

  1. Access the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) online portal. You can access the portal by clicking the link >> UAE ICA SMARTSERVICES
  2. Select “Passport” under Search By. 
  3. Select “Residency” under Select Type.
  4. Enter your passport number
  5. Enter your passport expire date
  6. Select your Nationality from the drop down.
  7. Answer the “CAPTCHA”.
  8. Hit on search


The page will show the status of your Residence Visa.



The page should look like the image below:






On this residence visa status result, the visa has already been cancelled. The person should exit UAE or look for a new employer within 21 or 30 days starting on the cancellation date. Depending on UAE’s foreign manpower need, the grace period is extended up to 180 days.
